Summer Project

This is my first post for the year. I'm currently in the middle of working on the Summer Project. There seems to be a lot of freedom given with it, which was a little intimidating at first! but think i'm getting the hang of it.

These are a few drawings for the project, taken from the objects on the sheets given as part of the project. Some are silhouettes and some are just rough sketches. So far i have roughly an even amount of life forms, structures and machines. Next i'll work on picking a few ideas and detailing them a bit.

  1. Hey there :) This is looking really good and clean! Im loving these but can I suggest numbering these? when a page is full with life (like these) its hard for people to point out which ones they like :) youll find if you number them people will point a few out they like which should help you out in your progress. Anyway, looking really good so keep it up!

  3. Heya. I like your style here, quite Gothic. I see a lot of evil scientist's laboratory gadgets particularly on page 2. Also on that second page is a silhouette of the two shoes. This makes me think of the home of a tribe that lives in the mountains.
It's always good to post your own thoughts about your work. Doesn't need to be a lot, just gives your readers more of an idea of your creative process. :)
    Good Luck

  4. Hi Vikki! Many thanks for your comment, your sketches are looking awesome, I especially like the second page downwards. Your shading techniques very original. Likewise its great to be talking to someone in the same position. See you soon :)

My name is Le or Urvashi. You can choose either. I'll be in my 2nd year. I thought that I'd come say hello. So, Hello =)

  6. See I told you they are a friendly bunch.

Mike made a good point about individual numbering, I'll drop in some links later about good examples of layout.

As to your work I see a lot of promise here with some interesting combinations and shifts in design. I quite like one of the designs on sheet 2 it reminds me of the Mekon (anyone who has read Dan Dare or Eagle will know the one)

If you are getting stuck for ideas you can use tracing paper and start overlaying shapes (photocopying and collaging will achieve a similar effect)to increase the variety of combinations.
